Why Individual Food Stations Are an Awesome Catering Idea for Your next Function

by Stephen Williams

Perhaps you're planning your next work function, or even your own wedding. There can be some trepidation when it comes to assembling a large group of people and having to feed them all, and this feeling is only natural. Sure, you might want to opt for a formal sit down meal, perhaps even with a buffet, and yet there's another way to make it an event to remember. Food stations are a wonderful way to keep all your guests happy when it comes to event catering. Guests can simply go to whichever station (or stations) they prefer. OK, so food stations are somewhat like a buffet, but it's a segregated type of buffet. Guests go to the station they prefer, and this means that there isn't going to be a long queue with everyone waiting to get to a single source of food, such as a buffet table. So why are multiple food stations such a fantastic idea for your next function?

Dietary Restrictions

It's an easy way for guests to identify appropriate foods for themselves, and so you could set up food stations that offer exclusively vegetarian food, vegan food, halal food, or kosher food. There will be no querying a specific dish on a buffet table when the whole station offers an appropriate option.

A Personal Touch

Some food stations can just be topped up by catering staff as necessary, but some can offer a meal that is freshly prepared in front of your guests. A burger could be cooked to their specifications by a staff member at the station in question. Naturally, having a number of chefs working at various stations isn't going to be the most cost-effective catering option, but this personal touch is guaranteed to impress.

The Festival Vibe

Depending on your chosen venue, the food stations could take the form of food trucks parked outside. This is easy and fun (and the clearing up is easy since the kitchen is simply driven away afterwards) and gives your function a fantastic music festival vibe.

Do It Yourself

Some food stations can have a DIY angle. Your guests will have fun making their own tacos from a selection of ingredients, or even their own ice cream sundaes.

Just for Kids

Some children might enjoy a variety of the types of food on offer, but they might also appreciate a food station just for them. Designate one food station as being just for kids, with a selection of options that kids are going to enjoy such as hot dogs, pizza, and easy types of finger food. Naturally some adults will want to try these options too, but they'll have to wait in line behind the kids!

Food stations are a memorable and innovative way to keep your guests happy at your next function.
